I know, it hurts. But as much as it pains me to say it it’s true, we look at our London rivals with a feeling of jealousy and bitterness. Why? Because for the last twenty years Arsenal have picked up x3 Premier League titles and x6 FA Cups. Chelsea, x4 Premier League Titles, x6 FA Cups, x1 UEFA Europa League and x1 UEFA Champions League. Spurs have just x2 League Cups to show for the past two decades with the last coming nine years ago. To make matters worse, their fans consistently like to remind us of their triumphs and how their clubs are ‘bigger’ or ‘better’; it can be unbearable at times and you get the sense that they look down on us.
But remember: this is a TRIANGLE of jealousy. So why after all of their recent successes would they feel the same about us?
A state of the art training complex that’s up there with the best in the world, an incredible multi-purpose stadium currently in assembly, soon to be gracing the London skyline (Chelsea have since expedited their plans for a re-development, no doubt on the back of the incredible imagery/concept art for our new home).
Then of course there is the Manager, one of the finest young coaches in world football with a clear plan and philosophy for the way he wants the team to play and the direction he is sending us: UP! The strides we have taken since he took the helm are simply amazing and impossible not to feel excited about where we go next. Our rivals must despise our happiness right now.
Finally, our team consists of full England internationals, a balance of hot young prospects and accomplished players in their prime. Outsiders can also sense a feeling of overwhelming togetherness in our squad, no egos or arguments present, just a real bond between friends and teammates. The prospect of playing in these facilities and surroundings all make for a very attractive settlement for the very best players in the world, so when recruiting in future transfer windows Tottenham stand an excellent chance of obtaining any players to enhance an already well balanced, strong team.
All that is left now for Tottenham is to return to their winning ways of old: we must win trophies to appease not only us fans, but the players themselves who constantly have their heads turned by the promise of success.
Mentally these young players have grown so much, let’s now use that to take our team to the next level, starting with the FA Cup semi-final versus our West London rivals next month. I sense that we are one cup victory away from a series of successes, both league and cup, and that feels me with an incredible amount of excitement!
So now what?
Let’s Dare, Let’s Do and let’s win what our Manager, players and us fans crave so much and maybe just maybe, the next twenty years will be very bright indeed.
